The European Commission published the first official CBAM certificate price for the financial implementation period. For carbon-intensive exporters, embedded emissions have become a commercially priceable risk.
The European Union has entered a new phase in the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism. The first quarterly certificate price for 2026 was published as EUR 75.36 per tCO2e. This price is calculated based on EU ETS auction prices and will become a reference for CBAM goods entering the EU.
Embedded emissions in CBAM-covered products now have a concrete cost reference. Exporters should treat 2026 as a carbon cost rehearsal year and prepare product-level emissions data, evidence and customer-level cost simulations.
CBAM is not only a customs issue; it is a data, contract and competitiveness issue. Lower embedded emissions can reduce the cost exposure of EU buyers and strengthen supplier positioning.
Turkey’s Emissions Trading System has gained a legal and technical framework. The announced 2026 operating fees are an operational threshold, but they are not yet the market price of carbon.
The Climate Law and draft ETS regulation set the legal basis for emissions permits, allowance allocation and market-based mechanisms. The pilot period will become a compliance laboratory for industrial companies.
Companies should assess scope, emissions capacity, CBAM links and customer portfolios together. They should also build data discipline across fuel, electricity, process emissions, raw materials and product-level emissions intensity.
The Water Efficiency Regulation turns water measurement, monitoring, planning and certification into a scheduled compliance area. The first 18-month compliance period ends on June 27, 2026.
For industrial facilities, organized industrial zones and relevant institutions, water efficiency is no longer only a voluntary sustainability target. It is becoming an operational risk, cost and compliance management subject.
Organizations should confirm their scope, assign a water efficiency team, review measurement infrastructure, prepare a water efficiency plan and prioritize reuse, recovery and process optimization projects.
